IAMTN and Its Members Proudly Support the IDFR Campaign

IAMTN

IAMTN is proud to support the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) campaign and to stand alongside our members, partners, and the wider global payments community in advancing financial inclusion, responsible innovation, and broader access to cross-border financial services.

Over recent years, the international payments ecosystem has undergone significant transformation. This progress has been driven by unprecedented collaboration across remittance providers, fintechs, banks, regulators, digital asset companies, and technology providers. Together, the industry has made meaningful strides in improving the speed, cost, accessibility, and transparency of cross-border payments—benefiting millions of people around the world.

The IDFR campaign provides an important opportunity to recognise both the essential role of remittances and the collective effort behind these advancements. It also serves as a reminder that, while considerable progress has been made, there is still more to do to ensure that financial services are truly inclusive, accessible, and resilient for all.

Cross-border payments and remittances are far more than financial transactions, they are lifelines. They support education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, trade, and economic stability for families and communities globally. Every day, IAMTN members facilitate secure and efficient money movement across borders, helping migrant communities stay connected with loved ones while contributing to sustainable economic growth.

IAMTN and its members remain committed to:

  • Promoting financial inclusion for migrants and their families, with a focus on access to affordable and reliable financial services
  • Encouraging continued innovation across payments, remittances, digital assets, and fintech
  • Upholding high standards of compliance, transparency, and consumer protection
  • Strengthening collaboration between industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Driving forward-looking discussions on the future of global payments infrastructure

Veronica Studsgaard, Founder of IAMTN, commented:

“It is encouraging to see the global payments community come together in support of initiatives such as IDFR, which recognise the vital role that remittance providers play in advancing financial empowerment and economic resilience worldwide. The progress we have made as an industry demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration and shared purpose. At the same time, we recognise that there is much more to be done. IAMTN thanks its members and partners for their continued support of the IDFR campaign and looks forward to building on this momentum through ongoing dialogue and cooperation.”

The IDFR campaign closely aligns with IAMTN’s mission to foster a stronger, more connected, and more inclusive international payments ecosystem. Through its global network, IAMTN continues to promote dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration that help shape the future of financial services.

Together, we can accelerate progress and build a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future for global payments.

About IDFR

The International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) is a universally recognized observance adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (A/RES/72/281) and celebrated every year on 16 June. The day recognizes the contribution of over 200 million migrants to improve the lives of their 800 million family members back home, and to create a future of hope for their children. Half of these flows go to rural areas, where poverty and hunger are concentrated, and where remittances count the most.

The IDFR is fully recognized at the global level and included as one of the key initiatives to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular MigrationGCM(Objective 20),  calling for the reduction of remittance transfer costs and greater financial inclusion through remittances. The Day also promotes achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and furthers the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
