09:00   WELCOME MESSAGE FROM IAMTN

09:15   THE ROLE OF REMITTANCES
In this session, IFAD will talk about the importance of remittances and the International Day of Family Remittances. Fifteen years ago, remittances were literally unaccounted for
because migrant workers and their families “didn’t count”. This
has changed dramatically, as remittances have now become an
important part of the development agenda for governments and
international organisations.

11:00  POST OFFICE
In this session we will discuss the role of the post office within the remittances and the broader payments market. Post offices are known to be one of the largest cash-in and cash-out networks for the MTOs. They often offer post-to-post remittance services cheaper and in some cases already below the 5 per cent and they play an important role in the financial inclusion for the rural last mile. Discussing upcoming and existing initiatives, challenges and opportunities the session will look into how Post offices can remain relevant in the digital payments space.
