He was Minister of Justice and Public Security of Brazil from 01/2019 to
04/2020. Federal Judge at the 13th Federal Criminal Court of Curitiba/PR, specialized in financial
crimes, money laundering, and crimes committed by organized criminal groups.

Sergio has written books and specialized articles in the legal field.

He received the title of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, from the University of
Notre Dame du Lac, South Bend, Indiana, in 2018, the title of Doctor
honoris causa, in 2019, from the University of Marilia (Unimar), and the title
of Doctor honoris causa, in 2019, from the Dynamic University Center of
Cataratas - UDC.
