IAMTN Announces Payment Database: Lady Olga Maitland

IAMTN has decided to respond to a very real need for a global payments database which is correct, detailed and available covering every corner of the world. All sectors of the payments industry will be included; namely money service businesses, their agents, banks and their agents/links, pre-payment cards, mobile phone companies who transmit payments; regulators and service providers. It will include authoritative analyst's reports, merger details, legal entity information, etc.

Says Lady Olga, “There are any number of reputable databases like the European Central Bank's Blue Book, which do excellent and important work, but they are confined in their remits to certain sectors, in certain countries and curiously enough do not supply the vital contact details. Elizabeth Grausam, Vice President and Payments Analyst at Goldman Sachs in New York is frustrated their data base goes only so far. She has expressed willingness to assist in development.

The architect for the structure of the database will be IAMTN Board member Leon Isaacs, MD of Developing Markets Associates; formerly marketing director at Coinstar with a wealth of experience in the payments sector. CapGemini Head of Payments Nick Ford has come forward to support the initiative.

CB.Net Reference Data lead by their managing director Ian Dunning. CB.Net is a leading reference data provider for international payments – already providing the European Payments Council SEPA Adherence Reposi tory and the EBA (EuroBankers Association) Priority Scheme. CB.Net will pool their resources from their International Payments directory, BankSearchPlus which covers more than 130 countries. This includes names, addresses, and department contact details.

Another key player will be CounterpartyLink lead by their CEO Christoph Lammersdorf. They have a database of legal entity information drawn from some 190 countries worldwide. They monitor not only mergers and acquisitions but also proposed corporate changes. They monitor over 1200 regulators, company registry authorities and stock exchanges worldwide from which they capture information pertinent to local and international compliance regulations.
