Card providers make effort towards safe internet

Visa has collaborated with Australian prepaid card provider SCX Global to launch the first disposable prepaid card especially for the internet. The Vcard, says Visa, does not require a bank account to be operational. You simply buy the card for around A$5.50 and register to have it loaded with funds either at a retail outlet or over the internet. Once the funds run out, the card cannot be used again.

PayPal has announced a service for its customers that will allow them to use their PayPal account at online retail outlets that do not accept PayPal. The company plans to launch a MasterCard branded debit card number that can be used online for a single purchase. The number will be unique and valid only for that particular transaction. The facility uses one-time card technology from Irish company Orbiscom.
